Securing accommodations in Dawson City requires diligence. It is easier to find housing once you are physically in town and for this reason students are advised to arrive in Dawson by late August.

The bulletin boards at the local post office, as well as bulletin boards throughout town, are good places to find housing notices. The Facebook group called Dawson’s Buy Sell and Trade is also an excellent online source of information on available rental housing. Let the page “admins” know you are a SOVA student and they will add you to the group.

Shared houses or apartments, winterized cabins and long-term bed and breakfast units are among the available housing options. Rental rates are slightly higher in Dawson than in many southern communities. Students should budget anywhere from $500 – 1000 per month (depending on occupancy and inclusions) for housing. Be sure to ask landlords about the cost of heating which is not always included in the rental price. SOVA maintains an active list of housing possibilities and contact information but bears no responsibility for arranging, inspecting or guaranteeing housing.

If you have any questions please contact SOVA at (867) 993-6390, or email us.
